A familiar community staple for 50 years in Sharon Springs was the Sharon Springs Fire Auxiliary Community Birthday Calendar which had its final run in 2015. Well, hopefully you will be excited to know it is making a comeback for January 2021. There are a few exciting changes and it is now sponsored by the Sharon Springs Rotary Club.
For those familiar with it, it needs no introduction. The calendar was a quick reference to local businesses that advertised on it, a critical resource of local organizational meetings like the School Board, Library Board or American Legion – just to name a few, but probably the most iconic element was the birthdays and anniversaries. Yes it REALLY DOES list the birthdays and anniversaries of all your neighbors – well maybe not all, but many! Part of the small town charm of Sharon Springs is passing a neighbor at the local post office or store and them wishing you Happy Birthday, because they saw it on the Neighborhood Birthday Calendar.
A BIG CHANGE that we want people to be aware of is that no one will be knocking on your door to sell you a calendar, COVID-19 has made sure of that. So orders can be placed via our website, by mail or email. We want everyone to be able to order so if you are not computer savvy PLEASE CALL US at 518-306-1948 someone will call you back and we will get your order!
A few other NEW things
- DELIVERY – Since we are not doing door to door, you will have 3 pick-up days in November where you can pick your calendar up at the bank/post office vestibule but we are also offering the option to have you calendar mailed direct to you
- DIRECTORY ADS – Ad space is limited on the calendar but it was important to us to make space available for all our businesses so there will be an option of a Directory ad which will just list a Business Name and Phone #
- COLOR ADS – A little variety is nice and you can make your ad stand out with a splash of color
- LOGO ADS – Sometimes your Logo says it all, well now your Logo can be a part of your ad
The Rotary Club is excited to bring this old familiar friend into the new age and back onto people’s walls. We are hopeful that the community will embrace the changes and that this will be a successful fundraiser for the Rotary Club for many years to come.
